(21-23) KTM 890 Adventure | Stage 1+ Calibration

The 890 Adventure utilizes KTM’s long proven Lc8c parallel twin-cylinder engine producing nearly 105hp at the crank. The low-end torque and rideability of these bikes is what made them popular, however there is a lot of room for improvement to reach their full potential. Like most other models, thanks to stricter emissions standards, the closed loop sections run a 14.7 AFR- which is about as lean as you can safely go. This leads to hard starting, single-cylinder starting, stalling, excessive engine heat and poor throttle transitions, jerky QS/AB feel to name a few.

We’ve been able to improve the calibration in many places that offer a significantly more enjoyable riding experience whether you’re commuting or on a BDR - you will see a massive difference in performance and rideability.

  • Optimized fueling by retargeting the O2 sensors for a more desirable AFR, closer to 13.0-13.2 AFR. This vastly improves rideability and smoothens throttle transitions.

  • Adjusted fueling at idle to rectify the single cylinder starting and stalling.

  • Throttle restrictions removed.

  • Improved cooling achieved by having fans come on -4C deg sooner and correcting fueling to lower cylinder temperatures.

  • Engine braking reduced to remedy the abrupt fuel cut on deceleration.

  • Charcoal canister is turned off - no dongles or delete kits needed
